About
I’ve created this blog to keep the notes from a one-year simultaneous reading of the Asante Twi Bible and the King James Version.
My name is Bob Offer-Westort. I’m a student of anthropology who has done fieldwork in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. I used to speak Asante Twi fairly fluently, but I’ve had little opportunity to practice over the past three years. This one-year reading is an attempt to not only bring my Twi skills back to where they were, but to improve them. As there is no good dictionary of the Asante Twi language, the Bible is an excellent practice text, as it is one of very few that exists in English translation.
I was raised Roman Catholic, but am not a Christian. I do, however, have great respect for the religion and its scriptures.
